Build Solar Water Heaters
Solar water heaters are the most scientific as well as developed way to heat water. The electric water heaters are outdated and the solar water heaters will soon be taking their places, no doubt. And why not? A solar water heater helps us not only in reducing our electricity bill, but at the same time, it helps us in giving our part to save our environment and surrounding.
Types of solar water heater
Solar water heaters are of generally two main types, classified on the basis of their making status. They are
Ready solar water heaters: These are those kinds of solar water heater that are already manufactured and just need to be installed.
Build solar water heater:These are those kinds of solar water heaters that are made at home or anywhere by any individual following a particular guide or manual.
Build solar water heater
By making your solar water heater, you are able to reduce the electricity bills. And at the same time, the investment also decreases compared to the readymade solar water heaters. It is very easy to build solar water heater. All it needs and requires are few things from the hardware store, few project schematics and that’s all. Only by assembling these things, you can make your own solar heater. The time required depends on how big solar water heater are you making. Bigger the heater, more it is going to take time.
Build solar water heater for home
There are few options provided while making a solar water heater. Either it is made for use at home or at some other place.
If it is made for home, then all you need to do is to set up a solar panel at your house. This is to be set where it can receive maximum sunlight. And then this solar panel is connected to the existing heating system. Also a high capacity battery can be installed for the back up purposes. It can help you when the sun is not out. If you don’t have a heating system, then you should go for a ‘real time solar water heater’. It heats the water without storing it.
Homemade Solar Heater – Save On Your Electricity Bills
Is the electricity bill that you get going out of bounds? You would have discovered that the main reason for this to shoot up is the use of water heaters that use electricity to provide you with hot water. Can you find a way to get over this extra expense of yours? The answer is the use of homemade solar heater. With the depletion in fossil fuels, any form of energy is under high restrain. Depending on renewable resources for energy must be our goal.
Have you ever thought of the way in which our environment is being affected because of the excessive production of energy? It is high time you start giving some thoughts to all these aspects. The best way to reduce the consumption of energy that is derived from non renewable sources is to use renewable resources like solar energy. The heat that is produced using solar energy through homemade solar heater can be the best way that can be implemented to give you hot water supply.
A homemade solar heater consists of a panel of light sensitive cells which absorbs the sunâs radiation and converts it to heat. The components used to build the homemade solar heater are easily available in all hardware shops for a minimum cost. So your initial investment is considerable very less. If you opt for a prefabricated one it will cost you about ten times more.
The installation of this homemade solar heater is very simple and can be done if you follow a series of simple steps. You can obtain a general idea about how you can go about this process, as there are several guides and manuals available online. You can invest in one of these manuals and make sure that you get the right professional guidance that you need in setting up one such unit.
Question by Glen: How do I tell if my Solar Hot Water Heater is broken?
I have had a Solar Hot Water heater on the roof of my 3 level home for about 10 years. I have often wondered how do you tell if the heater is broken? If the re-circulating pump dies, am i right in saying the electric heating back-up would kick in? Would then my electricity bill skyrocket without me knowing until I got my next quarterly bill? I’d like to be able to avoid this.
